Professor Nazneen Rahman (BM BChB, PhD) Head of the Division of Genetics and Epidemiology at The Institute of Cancer Research and Head of the Clinical Cancer Genetics Unit at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. Together these form the ICR/RM Clinical Adademic Genetics Unit.
Professor Rahman has an international reputation in the discovery and clinical translation of cancer predisposition genes. Her group is particularly skilled in optimising new technologies for research and clinical purposes. Thousands of families participate in her research studies, which have been highly successful in identifying genes that cause cancer. The Rahman research laboratory has performed gene testing for many thousands of individuals, not eligible for NHS testing. Further information about the research studies can be found here.
Professor Rahman is a practising Clinical Geneticist in the highly-respected Clinical Cancer Genetics Unit at the Royal Marsden. She and her colleagues develop protocols for management of familial cancer which are widely used and also provide advice to many other clinicians, particularly with regard to interpretation of the clinical impact of cancer predisposition gene variants. Further information about the clinical unit can be found here.
Professor Rahman decided to set-up TGLclinical so that the technical, scientific and clinical expertise of her Unit could be of benefit to more people.
